It's an exciting time for Melbourne CBD, with the revitalisation of retail and the consumer at the forefront of its activities. Located at the newly refurbished The Strand Melbourne, funkis is our newest resident, evidently attracted by the Melburnian penchant for good style. by Caroline Chagas
Scandinavian design is known for its minimalist approach to shapes and lines, with a heightened sense of sustainability. Beauty radiated through light colours, ample use of wood, minimalism and functionality are typical traits of this Northern European style.
Enter funkis Swedish forms - a Sydney-born design company offering the best of Swedish and Scandinavian fashion, jewellery, homewares, furniture and accessories. Its trademark clogs and sandals are handmade in Sweden from natural vegetable dyed
leather and sustainable timber, while many other products are made here in Australia.
Established in 1996, funkis quickly became a favourite destination in its original spot in Bondi Beach and expanded to two new stores in recent years, including our very own Melbourne. Delivering a seamless customer experience, with friendly and knowledgeable staff and an eclectic range, the funkis store is a must visit to those seeking timeless fashion and homewares.
You'll find a funky (sorry, it had to be said!) collection of reading glasses, scented candles, body products including soaps and shampoos, bags, brushware for the body and kitchen and jewellery. With a strong corporate social responsibility, everything at funkis is sustainable and ethically made.
With Christmas fast approaching, funkis has also designed a quintessentially Scandinavian collection of cookie cutters, ornaments and other little bits and bobs for the house.
