The Railway Hotel is a landmark on the Chapel St precinct, with its 24-hr bottle shop and grungy vibes in and around the Windsor end.
But if you think you know it, you actually have no idea!
After extensive renovations, The Railway Hotel has opened its sleek new doors and welcomed Little Miss Melbourne to sample the creations of Chef Simon Tarlington (ex-Quay, Gordon Ramsay, Maze London) at the newly minted Highline Restaurant.
With produce sourced from Oak Valley Farm (Strahbogie Ranges of Victoria), we were spoiled with the freshest of vegetables, seafood and meats. Delectable creations included wallaby, lamb, prawns and oysters; a very Australian menu dished in a very French manner. We were served by François, a knowledgeable French man who matched all eight courses with exquisite Australian wines.
Highlights include the artisan bread, made with flour sourced from Tasmania, their own blend of olive oil and the juiciest of Angus rib-eyes! Another highlight is the slow-cooked wallaby served with rhubarb, medley of cucumbers and grapes.
Highline Restaurant offers an intimate dining environment, ideal for small groups and couples.
Arrive early and enjoy a drink on their outdoor deck!
