The inaugural MADE BY JIMMY (MBJ) Summer Store, a MBJ x Herbert & Mason Architects Collaboration, has officially launched in Melbourne with a laneway street party just off Chinatown in our city’s CBD (so Melburnian).
The cool kids of Melbourne were in attendance, including Dan Whitford (Cut Copy), recent ARIA winners Tin & Ed, Andy and Vin from Midnight Juggernauts (Andy DJ’ed throughout the night as Turkish Prison) and Johnny Mackay (Children Collide).
The pop up Summer Store on Crossley Street will showcase MBJ’s Shoreham range throughout December. The store features minimalist merchandising, with shirts and shorts hung on both sides of the stores, allowing the goods to really shine. We were greeted by a sea of blue walls, no doubt reflecting on the “let’s go to the pool” vibe of the brand.
Designed for easy wearing, the shorts have the flexibility to function as either swim or walk shorts. MBJ bridges this gap by actively reinventing men’s shorts, and for 2014/15, the range extends to t-shirts in matching patterns - Mix’n’Matching at its finest. And ladies, don’t be afraid to snag a pair of shorts for yourselves - they look tres chic and would make an ideal summer staple.
Born and raised in Melbourne, Jimmy set out to create a men’s lifestyle brand that would interpret and adapt to the environment we live in. Coming from an inner city urban background MBJ combines all the elements that make us whole – art, music, fashion, design, the street and mother nature.
Next time you’re in the CBD, be sure to pop by and discover this Made in Melbourne brand and get a head start on your summer wardrobe shopping!
