I believe in what I like to call Life By Design. That is, creating the life you want by making conscious decisions and changes that you're in control of to help shape your future self and happiness.
When I was recently catching up with the cool cats from Zomato, I was asked; which is a bigger focus for Little Miss Melbourne - lifestyle, or food? To which I replied, "lifestyle, of course! Food is just a part of the lifestyle you choose!". I then told them my belief about creating the life you want through Life By Design. "If you're not happy with something in your life, you have to change it!" I said, with gusto.
And it was right at that moment, I knew. I was no longer living a life that was making me happy. I had over committed myself to what had become two full time jobs. I was suffering the worse insomnia of my life to date. I was drinking insidiously more wine than I should (occupational hazard, I would joke). And I'll admit I never find the time to stop and have been generally running myself slowly but surely into the ground.
The worst part is, I'm not alone - majority of us are guilty of doing this. We're told to "work hard, play hard" - and I still think there's something in that! But what about the "rest hard" and the "health hard" or the "don't-feel-guilty-for-doing-nothing-on-a-Friday-night hard", to avoid yet another head cold, insomnia plagued night or self-medicated solution?
As the words left my mouth, I felt like a hypocrite and realised change had to happen. After having already lived the life I designed three years ago, I needed to hit refresh, start walking the talk again and make some positive changes to design the life I want now.
So what is my new Life By Design focus? Get. More. Balance.
I contacted my friend and life strategist, Carol Yang, who is helping me work smarter between my love of content and branding, and a love of sharing experiences through Little Miss Melbourne.
I've teamed up with KFit as a Brand Ambassador for Australia to share the message of fitting in more fit time.
I made a commitment to continue encouraging and empowering others to live their best life.
And I made a commitment to myself. Because that's where it needs to start for any of us.
Of course, there are still a few things that any city girl just can't drag herself from. Chips and champagne. Meandering through city laneways. Pulled pork. These are still parts of my Life By Design. It's all about balance, after all.
Thanks for reading and for all the support and I'm excited to share more insights with you as part of the journey to balance.
Yours,
Little Miss Melbourne xo
