Whittle away those winter blues with 11 days of fun at the Glow Winter Arts Festival. The City of Stonnington is bringing us another action-packed program catering to all ages and yearnings from the 13-23 August.
There’s loads of free and ticketed activities on offer including live entertainment, comedy, art, music, film, food and street performances.
If you haven’t gotten round to hitting the slopes this winter then get your skates on at the open-air ice rink in the heart of Prahran. The Glow Festival Hub will keep you entertained all week with free live performances while you get toasty with mulled wine and fill your bellies with delicious hawker fare. Dance the night away Friday and Saturday nights as the 106.7FM DJs keep the decks spinning with some pumping beats.
Forget food and wine pairings, the ever popular Flicks + Feasts will take things to a whole new level with a cultural assault of the senses. You’ll find cinematic classics from USA, India, Japan and Italy in the pop-up outdoor cinema as you dine on cuisine and matching cocktails from the respective regions.
You'll be able to laugh your winter socks off with some of Australia’s best comedians at Chapel off Chapel. The rotating line-up at the Glow Comedy Club includes the likes of Fox FM’s Dave Thornton, Nova FM’s Tommy Little, Cal Wilson and Michael Chamberlin.
Be mesmerised as Prahran’s iconic Greville Street lights up after dark with large-scale illuminations by none other than the talented crew behind the Gertrude Street Projection Festival. Also lit up is the shop window of Third Drawer Down featuring Light Switch - the animated work of internationally-recognised Glasgow artist David Shirley.
The streets of South Yarra, Prahran and Windsor will also heat up with a Latin street party, and be prepared to be sprung by giant illuminated Solar Bugs and the circus theatrics of giant puppets.
Get online for more information and tickets and get glowing at the Glow Winter Arts Festival from 13 - 23 August.
